BROADWAY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

NEW HERE?

SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE INFORMATION

We welcome you to join us for our Sunday Worship Service at 11am. Please see events page for more details.

GETTING HERE

We have a small parking lot off of Buckingham to the rear of the church that you are welcome to use when attending church functions. There is also metered parking and street parking nearby, but please note permit parking restrictions. The 36 bus stops near our front door, and we are about a 10-15 minute walk from either the Belmont or Addison el stations. You can get driving directions or public transportation options here. Our building is accessible at both entrances and we have a lift to our basement area. Other questions? Please feel free to contact us at 773-348-3679 or by email!

NEW TO CHRISTIAN WORSHIP?

There’s a first time for everything. If it’s your first time to attend Christian Worship, don’t worry – our welcome is wide, and you’ll be invited to participate as you feel comfortable. You can expect to find people of all kinds, dressed all kinds of ways, worshipping all kinds of ways. Some of us are quiet, and some of us like to clap and raise our hands. We are all ages and abilities, so our morning services have something for everyone.

NEW TO OUR WORSHIP SERVICE?

We believe that Worship is our response to a loving God, which means that everything we do can be considered Worship. When we gather on Sunday morning, we believe that we come to celebrate – our services typically include songs, prayers, readings from and interpretation of Scripture (the Bible). Some Sundays we have special celebrations like the Ritual of Baptism or Reception of New Members.

HOLY COMMUNION

The first Sunday of the month, we celebrate Holy Communion (also called Eucharist, or The Lord’s Supper) – we practice and “open table,” which means that all are welcome to receive the bread and juice in remembrance of the story of Jesus. As part of our celebration of Holy Communion, we receive an offering of nonperishable food. The local area food pantries and shelters then distribute items. “As we are fed, so we are called to feed.”

WORSHIP AIDS

Large print hymanls and large print bulletins are available from the ushers.

FELLOWSHIP TIME

Please join us for a time of fellowship after the worship service!

COME AS YOU ARE

By all means we want you to come as your are. One of our main goals here is to make sure you feel comfortable. When you walk through our doors we want you to feel welcomed and loved every single time. We understand that no one is perfect. The only thing we can do is love each other and extend grace.

BROADWAY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Broadway United Methodist Church is a community full of life & activity. Together we worship, study, offer community service, sing, and play. We strive to be a multi-cultural church and have proclaimed our commitment on the journey as an anti-racist institution. We are a Reconciling United Methodist congregation -- part of a connection of congregations committed to the full inclusion of LGBTQ persons. Our schedule includes opportunities for learning, for friendship and community, for eating together, and for feeding others.

ALL are welcome to this family of faith!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • God created us, and called us "good."
  • God is present to us in one another and calls us to live in community.
  • God is revealed in the risky, vulnerable servant ministry of Christ Jesus and his story of deat overcome in the Resurrection.
  • God's Holy Spirit empowers and eqiups us to be God's hands, feet, and heart in a hurting world.
  • God calls us to be agents of justice and love in the world.
  • We read the Bible in community, trusting that God's living word is revealed in scriptures informed by tradition, reason, and experience.
